The International Science and Technology Week of the University of Zaragoza (ISTWZ) is a free program of activities aimed at inviting foreign science and technology students and exchange coordinators to get acquainted with the Faculty of Science and the School of Engineering and Architecture, as well as the university and the city of Zaragoza. Zaragoza is the fourth city in Spain by population and it is a safe, affordable and lively city. The University of Zaragoza, founded in 1474, is one of the largest universities in Spain. It is ranked among the 150-200 best universities in the world for Natural Sciences & Mathematics in ARWU 2016.
The ISTWZ will be held at the University of Zaragoza, from June 29 to July 3, 2026. It includes technical presentations, visits to labs and research institutes, meetings with researchers, other science and technology related activities, cultural activities, tours of the city and an excursion to the Pyrenees.
All the activities will be directed by local professors and researchers. Local students will also participate in the activities and will show you the best of Zaragoza. This will be the eigth edition of ISTWZ, after the success of the previous editions.
Participation in the ISTWZ is free: neither tuition fees nor accommodation charges apply. We will admit up to 20 foreign students. If you want to be one of them, you must be between 18 and 25 years old at the time of the event, and be enrolled in a BSc or MSc related to Natural Sciences (including Geology, Physics, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Optics & Optometry) Mathematics, Engineering or Architecture, at any university having an exchange agreement with the University of Zaragoza in any field. If you do not know if your university has an agreement with us, please, send us an email.
The activities will be conducted in English and Spanish, so you need some knowledge of either of the languages to enjoy them (a minimum B-1 level in either of the two languages is recommended).
Since the number of participants is limited, an admission procedure is carried out to choose 24 students among all applicants. In order to apply, you must fill the Registration form and include the following:
- Scanned copy of your passport or National Identity Card
- Proof of enrollment in your BSc/MSc
- A recommendation letter by a professor or Erasmus coordinator of your university
- A short video (2 minutes max) or a presentation letter either in English or in Spanish, explaining why you want to participate in the International Week
The deadline for applications is May 24th. We will send you an email confirming that we have received your application. By May 31th, you will get another email communicating whether you have been admitted in the Week. If you are admitted, you will need to confirm your participation by June 7th, and send us your travel plan, together with a copy of the flight tickets from your country to Spain.
