Summer School: Introduction to statistics with R
It is our pleasure to invite you to the Summer School: Introduction to statistics with R organised by the Institute of Political Science, University of Wrocław and its Centre for Quantitative Research. The School is funded within the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme and it is meant for Ph.D. students and researchers at the early stages of their quantitative research.
Content:
The Summer School will include:

online introductory section concerning the basics of statistics and R software (4 hours)
·
lectures on quantitative methods in social sciences (4 hours)
·
workshops concerning application of statistics in political science with practical use of R software (linear regression and logistic regression) (28 hours)
·
discussions on actual studies and analyses (2 hours)
The event will also cover a guided tour of Wrocław and enable networking, experience sharing and discussing potential future scientific partnerships.
The course will follow a beginner-level programme for participants who hold basic knowledge of statistics (such as central tendency measures, measures of variance, normal distribution, p-value, division between parametric and non-parametric tests, distinction between population and sample, definition what dependant and independent variables are) and want to learn how to apply it in their research.
Formal requirements:
All participants of the Summer School have to be Ph.D. students or researchers at the partner Universities. Please note, that each participant has to obtain an Erasmus mobility grant from their home University to cover costs of transport, accommodation and catering in Wrocław. The costs of lectures and workshops shall be borne by the University of Wrocław within the Blended Intensive Programme.
Organisational details:
The Summer School shall take place in Wrocław on 25th June – 1st July 2023. It will be preceded by an online introductory session.
