Visiting Faculty Stay at Sciences Po, Paris (PDF)

Application deadline: September 18, 2023. Applications are open for 1-semester stays planned in the 2024 Spring Semester or 2024 Fall Semester.

Sciences Po, with Université Paris Cité, is calling for applications for visiting faculty from around the world.

Sciences Po is an international research university, ranking among the finest institutions in the fields of humanities and social sciences.

In the Spring 2024 (2023-24 academic year) and Fall 2024 (2023-25 academic year), Sciences Po will open two visiting faculty positions for up to a semester-long (12-weeks minimum). This Visiting Stay aims at fostering interdisciplinary opportunities in environmental research, encouraging the development of new partnerships for collaborative research, as well as facilitating the mobility of English-speaking and French-speaking researchers towards France. Research proposals focusing on one of the following themes will be particularly welcome:

- Environmental inequalities

- Environmental health

- Knowledge and expertise for environmental action

- Oceans and coastlines

At Sciences Po, Environmental Research is organised through AIRE, a cross-cuttingprogramme bringing together researchers from all disciplinary research units. In addition, existing research collaborations with Université Paris Cité, including the Earth Politics Centreand the Environmental policies research group, provide opportunities to open up to other disciplines beyond the social sciences and humanities. The forthcoming Institute for Environmental transformations (funded under the ExcellenceS project TIERED with Université de Paris as partner) will give visibility to training and research activities.

The visiting faculty will be hosted in one of the Science Po research units (an exhaustive listcan be found here), and will benefit from the dynamic of the researchers with diverse disciplinary backgrounds specialised in environmental research through the Institute for environmental transformations.

The Visiting programme is open to academics at any career stage and in any discipline. We encourage researchers from all around the globe, especially women, to apply.

CONDITIONS

Visiting faculty will receive an overall monthly stipend of 4.000 euros (before taxes).

Visiting faculty are expected to teach one full course with an environmental lens (12 x 2-hours sessions) over the semester. They are also expected to contribute actively to the research community they will join, and to deliver at least one Public Lecture (for both Sciences Po and Université Paris Cité students) during their stay.

Visiting faculty will be given access to an office space on campus, in the heart of Paris, to the Sciences Po library and other University facilities and to the research activity and events programme driven by the research unit they will be hosted in.

The stay is to be scheduled between January, 2024 and May/June, 2024, or between August/September, 2024 and December, 2024.

Sciences Po is a bilingual university (English and French), French is therefore not required for application to this position but speaking one of the two languages is essential.
