Language of instruction: English
Participants: Administrative and academic staff members from Higher Education Institutions, preferably with and IIA established with Iscte.
Places: between 15 and 25 participants (an active participation of all participants is expected to enrich the exchange of experiences and its practices)
Selection criteria: participants preferably from universities with an IIA established with Iscte (priority for participants from the PIONEER Alliance); diversity of countries and multi-disciplinarity - the selection will aim to create an academically diverse group of staff from different universities.

Abstract

The aim of this staff week is to discuss and promote EU social values, such as democracy, human rights, equality, diversity and sustainability in today's complex and challenging landscape. Emphasizing the role of active citizenship, education, and social innovation, the program seeks to raise awareness, equipping participants with the knowledge and skills necessary for meaningful engagement in democratic processes and community initiatives. The Erasmus+ programme plays a pivotal role in fostering active citizenship and enhancing knowledge by supporting individuals and community through education, training, collaboration and innovation projects.

Through case studies, interactive workshops, and exchange of best practices, participants will address the following topics:

Examine the interconnectedness of environmental, social, and economic systems, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda. The fight against climate change, the use of innovative practices to turn participants into real drivers of change (e.g. saving resources, reducing energy use, waste and carbon footprint, sustainable food and mobility choices).

Participation in democratic life, common values and civic participation, involving participants in democratic processes, active participation in their communities. Emphasis is placed on raising awareness and comprehending the EU common values for peace and security, respecting fundamental rights and freedoms.

Digital transformation, to provide more effective responses to societal challenges, the development of a digital education ecosystem that strengthens skills and critical understanding at all levels and in all sectors.

Costs

The staff week has no registration fees. Cost with travelling, and meals shall be supported by the participants.

Erasmus funding is applicable - Please contact the International Relations Office at your home university to find out if Erasmus+ grants for staff mobility for training are available.

Accommodation

Accommodation is not included, and it must be provided by the participant. Iscte do not guarantee accommodation, but we have some tips, in case of need:

As Lisbon became a very attractive city, the accommodation has decreased and became more expensive. Nevertheless, Lisbon offers a wide selection of hotels / apartments at affordable prices when compared with most European capitals.
