2023 Project Term Erasmus+ KA131 Short-Term Doctoral Traineeship Applications (3nd Call)

 

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT 

The applications to Erasmus+ KA131 Short-Term Doctoral Traineeship within the 2023 project term will be held between 05.03.2024 – 05.04.2024, by 16:00

In this call, 30 doctoral /post-doc students are expected to be granted from the Erasmus+ funds.

The traineeship period of the selected/placed applicants must be completed before 15 September 2024.

IMPORTANT

Please bear in mind that:

- Doctoral students/new graduates (post-doc) who will perform internship mobility within the scope of Short-Term Doctoral Mobility can carry out their activities in a business abroad, a research institute, a laboratory, an organization or another relevant workplace. Internship mobility may include related research activities of doctoral candidates.

     

Who can apply?

- Candidates must be full-time students enrolled in a doctoral program at METU or continuing their post-doc studies at METU at the time of application.

-Candidates must have a signed and stamped official acceptance letter from the institution where they will do their traineeship and upload these letters to the online system during the application. A pre-admission letter/e-mail message will also be accepted during the application process.

- Candidates must have a CGPA of at least 3.00 (above 4.00).

- Candidates must have taken any of the English exams accepted by METU or OSYM within the last 5 years and must have this exam result. Valid and relevant language test result must be uploaded to the online system at the time of application.


Start and End Dates of the Application

The application period is 05.03.2024 – 05.04.2024. The application period will end at by 16:00.


How to Apply?

      All application, selection and placement of traineeship program will be carried out online and through the E-Devlet Career Gate platform initiated by the Turkish National Agency. Application documents should not be physically transmitted, but only uploaded to the relevant section of the Application Portal. It is essential to strictly adhere to the specified date range in order to carry out the online application processes and upload the application documents online.

         The application portal, which is configured on the E-Devlet Career      Gate platform, will be closed on 05.04.2024 at 16:00. After the specified date and time, no applications or documents can be uploaded into the system. Application procedures will be carried out only through the National Agency Application Portal: https://turnaportal.ua.gov.tr/ You can find the details about the     application portal from the link below.

     During the online application, applicants will be asked to submit an acceptance letter obtained from a firm/institution where the traineeship will take place to the system. Late submissions will not be accepted. 

         The acceptance letters should be signed, stamped and written on a headed paper (antetli kağıt) and include:

         - dates & subject of the traineeship

         - name of the institution where the traineeship will take place

         - name and function of the person who signs the letter

         In the acceptance letters, it should be specified that the applicants will work as a trainee rather than a researcher. Those letters including such notions as “research” or “scientific study” will not be accepted. 

It is obligatory to have a valid English test score from an exam which was taken within the last 5 years before the application deadline and the test must be one of the exams recognized by METU or organized OSYM.

The traineeship period of the selected/placed applicants must be completed before 15 September 2024.

For the application to be valid, the acceptance letters should be prepared according the rules mentioned above. The applicants will be able to make changes in the acceptance letters during the application period. 

. The eligibility/validity of the acceptance letter will be decided based on the last version uploaded to the online application system by 05.04.2024 before 16:00. Hence, it will not be possible to upload any edited document after this deadline.  

Minimum CGPA Requirement for Application

Interested doctoral/post-poc students must have at least 3,0 CGPA out of 4,0.

Language Proficiency Requirement

It is obligatory to have a valid English test score from an exam which was taken within the last 5 years before the application deadline and the test must be one of the exams recognized by METU or organized by OSYM. Without such a valid English test score, the application will not be completed and will not be considered for evaluation. . The valid score can be one of the following options:

International Cooperations Office will discontinue holding English Proficiency Exam for Exchange Programs (EPEEP) based on the University Senate decision given on December 29, 2021. No EPEEP exam will be held starting from 2022. However, students interested in applying to ICO programs such as Erasmus+, Overseas Exchange or Mevlana will be able to bring any English language score taken within the last 5 years before the application period. These scores must be one of the METU or OSYM (YDS/e-YDS/YÖKDİL) recognized exams. Please check which exams are recognized by METU or OSYM from the link and prepare your valid score. You need to upload your language score which is recognized on the application system which will be checked for the validity and eligibility by ICO. The table below will be used for conversion of METU's recognised exams into a grading scale ranging from 1 to 100, the highest score. Then the online system will calculate its 50% for the selection purposes (see Selection Criteria section) as explained below:

Selection Criteria

- According to the rules of the National Agency, the placement scores of the candidates in this program will be based on 50% CGPA and 50% English Language score.

-  15 points will be added to the overall score of the students who are the children of martyries and veterans. The proving documents must be submitted to the online application system during the application period.

-  10 points will be added to the overall score of students with disabilities. The proving documents must be submitted to the online application system during the application period.

-  10 points will be added to the overall score of the students who are who have been under protection by 2828 Social Services Law. The proving documents must be submitted to the online application system during the application period.

- 10 points will be added to the overall score of the students who themselves or their first-degree relatives receive aid from AFAD. The proving documents (the document which shows the AFAD aid could be downloaded from e-devlet system) must be submitted to the online application system during the application period.

- 5 points will be added to the overall score of the students who will do a traineeship activity that’s in scope of Digital Opportunity Traineeships (cybersecurity, big data, digital marketing, software development, social media management etc.). You can select this option during your online application and your acceptance letters will be examined by ICO to confirm that your traineeship is in this scope in content. The letters should clearly mention that the traineeship will be within the scope of a Digital Opportunity Traineeship to receive this extra point.

-10 points will be deduced from the overall grade of the students who have benefited from Short-Term Doctoral Erasmus applications. Even though the participants do not conduct their mobility yet; 10 points will be deducted because of being selected and granted before.

 -10 point will be deduced from the overall grade of those international students who apply for the countries that they have their citizenships.

 **To get these additional points, applicants have to submit their official proofs by 15.12.2023 to online application from e-Devlet. It is the applicants’s own responsibility to provide valid and reliable proofs.

Duration of the Activity

METU Rules:

In order to provide mobility opportunities for a higher number of students and because of the budget limitations at METU, candidates to be selected for this type of mobility within the scope of the existing Erasmus+ KA131 budget opportunities will be granted for a minimum of 5 days and a maximum of 14 days.

Program Rules:

Within the scope of the program, internship mobility can be carried out between a minimum of 5 days and a maximum of 30 days

Students can participate in the Erasmus program more than once. The same student may receive grants for mobility periods totaling up to 12 months per each cycle of study (UG, MS, Ph.D.), independently from the number and type of mobility activities. This means the duration of Erasmus grants for Erasmus traineeship mobility and Erasmus student mobility and in a specific cycle of study for a student can be maximum of 12 months.

 2023 Project Term Erasmus+ Traineeship Grants in Euros (daily)

 An individual support grant can be awarded for one travel day before the activity and one travel day following the activity.

Within the scope of Short-Term Doctoral Mobility, the following amounts of Additional Grant Support can be provided to participants with fewer opportunities.

 * In this case, no additional support is given for the traineeship.

 

In the case of budget limitations, it is also possible to participate in the program without receiving any grant. Those applicants who would like to participate in the program without a grant need to make the application and their applications need to be evaluated as the others. Those participants with zero grants have to fulfill the rights and obligations of the program.

Students who would like to withdraw from the Erasmus traineeship program should inform ICO about withdrawal decision latest by August 30, 2024. Please bear in mind that students who withdraw from the program after August 30,2024, except for the force- majeure cases, will lose 10 points for their future Short-term Doctoral Erasmus applications at the same study cycle (academic level).

Announcement date of application results: The results will be announced towards end of April, 2024 (expected)

 Students may be required to obtain a visa for the traineeship period. Please keep in mind that visa procedures may take a long time and students may have to pay fees for visa application (fee amounts vary). Please consult with the embassy of the related country.
