Avrupa Komisyonu spor faaliyetinin geliştirilmesi ve yaygınlaştırılmasını teşvik etmek, sporun uluslar arasındaki birleştirici etkisini artırmak ve sporun sağladığı faydaları iş birlikleri yoluyla zenginleştirmek üzere Erasmus+ Programı çatısı altında çeşitli girişimlerde bulunmaktadır. Bu yaklaşımın verdiği motivasyonla 16-19 Mayıs 2024 tarihlerinde sporun sevdirilmesi ve spor faaliyetlerinin gençler arasında yaygınlaştırılması amacıyla "Erasmus Spor Festivali" düzenlenmesi kararlaştırılmıştır. Festivalin diğer hedefleri spor aracılığıyla kültürlerarası diyaloğun geliştirilmesi ve 19 Mayıs Gençlik ve Spor Bayramının da bu vesile ile coşkulu biçimde kutlanması olarak belirlenmiştir.
Erasmus Spor Festivali, Türkiye'ye Erasmus+ KA1 Programı ile gelen tüm yükseköğretim öğrencilerinin ve daha önce Erasmus programından faydalanmış ülkemizdeki yükseköğretim kurumlarında kayıtlı öğrencilerin başvurusuna açıktır. Etkinlikte rekreasyonel nitelikte sekizden fazla branşta bireysel ve takım karşılaşmaları düzenlenecek ve 19 Mayıs tarihinde final karşılaşmaları ve ödül töreni gerçekleştirilecektir. The European Commission is taking various initiatives under the umbrella of the Erasmus+ Program to encourage the development and dissemination of sports activity, to increase the international unifying scope of sport and to enrich the integration of sport through unification. With the motivation of this approach, it was decided to organize the "Erasmus Sports Festival" between 16-19 May 2024, in order to popularize sports and spread sports skills. The other goal of the festival was determined as developing intercultural dialogue through sports and celebrating May 19 Youth and Sports Day enthusiastically on this occasion.
Erasmus Sports Festival is included in the programs of all higher education programs coming to Turkey with the Erasmus+ KA1 Program and those registered in higher education programs that have previously benefited from the Erasmus program. The event will feature recreational individual and team matches in more than eight branches, and the final matches and award ceremony will be held on May 19.
