The 3rd MEGA International Creative Media Festival is initiated by Academy of Film and Creative Technology, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, and will be held from May 12 to 18 in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, China.
About MEGA
MEGA is an integration concept of media, exhibition, graphics, and arts. MEGA International Creative Media Festival focuses on the diverse forms of creative media communication and carries out activities combining different forms, including the competition, exhibition of digital media arts and summit. MEGA International Creative Media Festival aims to explore the trends of film, television, and new media arts, and enhance communications between students and relevant industry professionals.
The 2nd MEGA International Creative Media Festival attracted the participation of 69 colleges and universities from China and abroad, in the forms of feature films, documentaries, experimental films, MVs, variety shows, games, VR, installation arts, etc. It shows the diversity of media forms and the creativity and creative thinking of students. The Opening Ceremony and Award Ceremony of the 2nd MEGA, which was broadcast on NetEase News live stream, attracted the attention of all parties, and more than 1.6 million people to participate the event.
In addition, the 2nd MEGA International Creative Media Festival also held an online exhibition of shortlisted works, an exhibition of students’ works, a digital media arts exhibition, and the 2nd Film, New Media and Creative Technology Summit. The theme of this year’s summit is “Challenges and Transformation of the Industry under the Pandemic”, which was broadcast on the NetEase news live stream platform, attracting more than 1.8 million viewers to participate.

Rules & Regulation
Short Film
·
The film should be completed after January 1, 2021.
·
The film should have a total running time under 30 minutes.
·
The submission format should be MP4 or MOV.
·
There are no restrictions on film genre. Any submitted film that has been shown or have the plan to be shown in cinemas or online platforms should be accompanied with a list of release platforms.
·
All submissions must be subtitled in English (Except for films without dialogue).
Art Installation
·
There are no restrictions on type or style.
·
The art installation should be completed after January 1, 2021.
·
There are no restrictions on the materials used for the art installation. It is encouraged to make art installations that are environmentally friendly, convenient for disassembly and transportation, and suitable for long-term exhibition.
Game
·
There are no restrictions on type, style and platforms.
·
The game should be completed after January 1, 2021.
·
A completed executable file should be uploaded.
Final Judges
We will invite the industry’s most prestigious experts in various fields to conduct the final review.

Joe Cheung, Hong Kong famous director
Honorary President of the Hong Kong Film Directors Association, Vice President of the Hong Kong Screenwriter’s Guild, Vice President of the Hong Kong Film Workers’ Association, film expert consultant of the Hong Kong Leisure and Cultural Services Department. He was the chairman of the Hong Kong Film Awards Society from 1999 to 2003. During his tenure, he expanded the award setup, supported new talents and established the system for the Hong Kong Film Awards.

You-Ning Lee, senior film director
Lee used to serve as the chairman of the 58th Asia-pacific Film Festival 2018 and the chairman of the 14th and 15th China Film Production Association. Lee won the Outstanding Contribution to Film in the 2019 “Los Angeles Asian Film Festival Award”. Lee has been engaged in film editing, directing and teaching for more than 30 years.

San Luo, executive vice president of 1905 Films
Luo is currently the Executive Vice President of 1905 Films. She possesses over 15 years of experience in the film industry, covering the entire chain of investment, development, production, and distribution. She studied film production and scriptwriting at the University of California, Los Angeles. She also used to be the producer at Zedong Pictures.

Walli Ullah, film producer
Ullah currently is one of the founders of Emu Films, and is both honored and proud to have been awarded a MBE in the recent Queen’s Birthday Honors for services to the UK creative economy and for overseas investment in the UK. EMU Films are an independent production company, most recently demonstrated through the groundbreaking “SMALL AXE” anthology of five films.

Qing Cao, senior producer
Cao is the founder of Zhijian Culture Media, a well-known fashion media professional, a senior program producer and a film producer. She is one of the earliest practitioners of industrial programming in China and has been working on industrial content projects for more than a decade.
